Prior to moving to the USA to pursue a PhD, I was a freelance saxophone, clarinet, piano, and theory teacher in London alongside performing with several bands. To give just a few examples from performances and recordings with The Kings of Soul and other groups: I have led a big band at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Gibraltar Jazz Festival, played a private gig in a castle overlooking Tuscany, and worked with Music in Hospitals for years, performing in hospitals, care homes, and special needs schools across the country.
